How can I stop the tongue on my combat boot (all leather) from slipping down to the side?

I have a great pair of Grinders steel toe boots. Ever since I bought them the tongues have worked their way down the side of the boot shortly after I lace up and walk in them. I’ve tried lacing tighter, and constantly pulled the tongues back into place while breaking them in but nothing works.

    duck tape.

    it fixes everything.

    punch a hole in both sides of the top of the tongue and near the top of the boot and lace it all the way up.

    there should be small notches in on the boot tongue that you can weave the shoelace in and out of while lacing up the boot, if not cut small little slits in the tongue that enable you to weave the shoe lace in and out of
